Sarah Hinds
Clinical Intern

Hi there!

I’m Sarah, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s student at Seattle University. I graduated from the University of Dallas in 2011 with a degree in English Literature, where I learned to step into the lives of others through stories. Immersing myself in characters’ struggles, resilience, and relationships taught me how to listen for meaning, notice what is spoken and unspoken, and hold multiple perspectives at once. This attunement to nuance, context, and the human need to make sense of experience continues to shape my counseling approach. For me, counseling is an extension of that lifelong practice of honoring stories—helping clients uncover the wisdom and motivations of their different parts, re-author old narratives, and connect with their core Self.

My journey to counseling began in medical health settings, where I worked as a nursing assistant and private pediatric caregiver in spaces ranging from the University of Washington’s NICU to assisted living communities, memory care units, and hospice. In each setting, I was drawn to a more holistic approach—one that centered not just physical health, but also the emotional well-being of my residents, care charges, and their families. Since moving into counseling, I’ve leaned into areas of special interest such as neurodivergence, grief, and suicide postvention, and I am committed to continuing to grow and stretch in these areas of practice. I am also contracted with Washington State University to teach family, parent, and youth courses that strengthen communication, build resilience, and nurture child development.

I am influenced by Internal Family Systems, Nonviolent Communication, attachment theory, and narrative theory. I aim to create a respectful and compassionate space that honors each client’s goals, values, and identities. I believe healing begins when we create room for every part of ourselves to be heard and understood—and when we allow ourselves to reconnect with the natural world, which so often mirrors and supports our own growth and restoration.

Outside of my clinical work and studies, I find grounding and renewal in movement and nature. I am an avid runner, an English horseback-riding enthusiast, and someone who loves hiking, reading, and spending time with my family and our giant dog, Albert.

I am currently practicing under the supervision of Hannah Lewis, LMHC.
