Ciara Rutten
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate - candidate
Hello and welcome—I’m glad you are here
I have a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University and an MA in Psychology (2022). I am currently in the application process for my associates license; LMHCA. I am honored to serve as a therapist at Snohomish Counseling Collective, where I previously completed my internship program. I have worked in the field of mental health since 2019, supporting a variety of populations and challenges including residential treatment for adolescents with eating disorders, inpatient behavioral hospitalization for adolescents, individuals in crisis and those with chronic mental health conditions in supported living environments.
I am a compassionate, client-centered therapist who works with children, teens, adults, and families. I am dedicated to creating a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space to explore your inner world. Rooted in a person-centered theoretical approach, I believe that you are the expert of your own experience, and healing grows from genuine connection, curiosity, and self-discovery.
In my work with Children and Teens I utilize experiential techniques such as creative writing, art, play, and games to help children and teens express themselves, build emotional awareness, and practice new coping and communication skills. I enjoy supporting children and adolescents as they navigate challenges such as emotional regulation, anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, and stress related to school or family dynamics. I work at each client’s pace, meeting them where they are and partnering with caregivers when appropriate to support growth both in and outside of sessions.
My work is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect for your unique strengths and goals. I tailor the therapeutic process to meet you where you are, offering support that reflects your values, interests, and pace. I’ll walk alongside you as you build awareness, deepen self-compassion, and shape the changes you hope to see in your life.
